About Sid Sawhney, Our Founder

Sid has over 24 years of experience in the events services industry and has vast knowledge of custom fabrication, audio, lighting, video, and more. He has been in the A/V rental business for over a decade and he recognized a lack of creative event furniture rental items that were becoming high demand by clients.

That’s when he decided to answer the call for creative solutions to event problems with the creation of Modern Event Rental. With a strong penchant for entrepreneurship, Sid rolls up his sleeves daily to deliver exceptional experience to his customers.

He was recognized at the 2014 Hall of Fame for Illinois Meetings + Events and was listed as a Persons of Interest and awarded the title of Up-and-Coming Supplier.

Coverage includes the North Shore (Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park), the Northwest suburbs (Schaumburg, Rosemont, Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Itasca), the West suburbs (Oak Park, Naperville, Lombard, Oak Brook, Rosemont), and Northwest Indiana when needed for cross-state corporate events. Delivery fees scale with distance, but our service area isn’t capped at any specific radius — if there’s a corporate event venue in the metro, we deliver to it.

Can I rent lounge furniture for a corporate event in Chicago?

Our lounge inventory includes designer sofas, sectionals, accent chairs, ottomans, and styled vignette setups, all available for delivery across Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

About 50% of our furniture is built in our Elk Grove Village production shop, which means we can apply custom graphics, vinyl logos, or full-color print to LED bars, registration counters, communal tables, and lounge cubes. Standard lead time for custom branding is five to ten business days; rush options are available.

Do you provide event furniture rental for trade shows at McCormick Place and other Chicago convention centers?

Yes. We deliver booth furniture, lounge setups, registration counters, scenic elements, and LED branding pieces to every major convention center in the Chicago metro area — including McCormick Place, Navy Pier, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, and the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. Our team coordinates directly with venue operations on dock schedules, freight elevator restrictions, marshalling yard logistics, and union labor protocols where required. Because we operate our own delivery fleet from Elk Grove Village, we can also handle multi-day setups and tear-downs, overnight holds, and the tight load-out windows that come with major Chicago trade shows.

Do you offer LED and illuminated furniture for Chicago corporate events?

Yes. LED and illuminated furniture is one of our largest in-house product lines, including LED bars (4-foot to 12-foot lengths), illuminated acrylic cubes, light-up communal tables, and glow columns. Logo branding and custom graphics can be integrated directly into the lighted surfaces for brand activations.

How far in advance should I book event furniture rental in Chicago?

Book six to eight weeks ahead for peak corporate event season (April through June and September through November), and two to three weeks for off-peak dates. We accept shorter-turnaround orders when inventory allows — call us directly at 773-893-1044 for anything inside seven days.

Can Modern Event Rental handle last-minute event furniture rentals in Chicago?

Yes, when inventory and our delivery schedule allow. Because we operate our own delivery fleet from our Elk Grove Village facility rather than subcontracting trucking, we can often turn around a Chicago-area corporate order in 48 to 72 hours.

Do you provide certificates of insurance for Chicago event venues?

Yes. We carry standard general liability coverage and routinely provide certificates of insurance naming Chicago venues, hotels, and host organizations as additionally insured. Most COI requests are processed within 24 to 48 hours of booking confirmation.
